A Pair

By Diya Adhikary

It all began that day,

when my eyes met her.

I had seen her before,

but never this way.

"What beautiful eyes!"

Is what I said to my friends.

They felt no same,

only I felt the difference.

I would never get tired,

of asking about her.

I died to talk,

but never tried.

Then came a day,

when we finally met.

Gradually our hearts,

fell prey to the play.

I always bore a smile

during our conversations.

Recovery from sudden arguments,

took a while.

How did it end?

"Our difference of opinion!"

You made it clear,

but I could never put an end.

I still feel your presence

in the gust of wind.

Your voice is audible,

my ears feel its essence.

My fingers feel so helpless,

they cannot stop themselves.

But manage to delete

every word that I want to express.

My friends would

give me company.

My mind stays busy,

only if my heart could.

You wanted time for love,

I craved for love every time.

Our being unlike drifted us apart,

yet you will always be my love.
