A Gamble Of War

By Suhani Khanna

A war of fire and ice Shivering soldiers looked into their demise Their throat clenched with thirst Repressed inner soul sobbed and cursed

Engraved in his skin, imprinted in his psyche With pretence blessing of almighty, To eliminate everyone in sight His face was a mask of fright

His heart sinks as he looks around From behind, he got shot to the ground Peace dwindle, crueller the war gets Did he have any regrets?

Fresh scent of burnt flesh and bones

In air, far above fly across the drones

A girl in white let out a cry

Will the war itself ever die?
